| 2003 | A task force began working to produce the Fabula Festival. An agreement was made with Berättarnätet Öst for the Festival to be held under joint auspices.

| 2004 | The first Festival took place in March, on stages round the Nybroplan piazza in Stockholm. The Fabula Storytelling Festival Foundation was formed in preparation for next year’s Festival. |
| 2005 | The second Festival took place in March, on stages round the Nybroplan piazza in Stockholm. For year-round management of various storytelling projects, a trading partnership was added to the Foundation.

| 2006 | The third Festival took place at ABF-huset, Stockholm, this time in the autumn. Arrangements included the first-ever Swedish Storytelling Slam championships, in association with Berättarnätet Öst and on behalf of Berättarnätet Sverige, which had organised regional competitions nationwide.

| 2007 | 2007 It was decided to make Fabula a biennial event. The Swedish Storytelling Slam championships were organised on the same joint basis as in 2006, and Fabula inaugurated the Storytelling Slam as a form of competition for the Norwegian and Danish storytelling movements, the aim being for Nordic competitions to be held in coming years. |
| 2008 | The fourth Festival will be taking place at ABF-huset, Stockholm, in September. Norway, Denmark and Sweden will each be fielding a national team for the Nordic championships
